Madiba: The Nelson Mandela Story
In case you missed it, BET recently did an unexpectedly great job with The New Edition biopic, which chronicled the rise and fall of the R&B group. They are now hopefully doing the same with Nelson Mandela’s story and it’s only befitting that it airs during Black History Month. The movie is based on two of Mandela’s autobiographies, Conversations With Myself and Nelson Mandela by Himself. It is set to tell a more personal side of Nelson Mandela, unlike what has been shown previously. Interestingly enough, this would be the first Nelson Mandela film that has been directed by a black man, Kevin Hooks (I know right??). It also stars Lawrence Fishburn (as Mandela himself), Orlando Jones, David Harewood, and Terry Pheto. Watch a preview below and catch the three-part saga as it airs on February 1st, 8th, and 15th, 8 P.M. on BET.
