World Music Party: From The Kingdom to The Chi
All the way in Chicago, by way of Swaziland, R&B singer Adrienne Foo and South African Hip-Hop Producer Anatii energized the stage last weekend at the World Music Party hosted by Swazi Jive.
Safe to say it was pretty damn lit.
Playing a variety of songs from his debut album, ARTIIFACT, the charismatic Anatii had the crowd jumping from track to track. He also gave everyone a taste of his just-released single, “Everywhere You Go” ft. Portia Monique.
Although this was her first performance in America, Adrienne Foo showed her prowess in capturing the hearts of listeners. Performing a few of her records such as, “Dangerous” from her debut album, Imagine, the smooth Swazi singer had the crowd mesmerized from start to finish.
A couple of other Chicago-Bred performers, Aziz and Jaz Major, rocked the crowd with each of their selections as well.
With the rising popularity of Afrobeats globally, it’s important that we don’t overlook the other various forms of music representing our continent. The South African music scene is undoubtedly on the rise and is constantly proving that it’s a force to be reckoned with. It’d be wise to keep our eyes on these artists and others in the industry. this won’t be the last time we’ll be hearing from them. Trust.
