South African Illustrator and Street Artist Karabo Poppy Collaborates with Nike
Growing up between a town called Vereeniging and later moving to Potchefstroom at the age of 13, Johannesburg-based artist, Karabo “Poppy” Moletsane has always held an interest in the arts from a young age. Fast forward to 2019, Nike announced her collaboration for their Nike By You collection.
Images on Nike.com reveal 3 pairs of Nike Air Force 1’s, with colorways that include her signature bold African inspired designs from the award-winning artist.
Karabo Poppy is no stranger to accolades for both her work as an illustrator and as a street artist. She is currently on the Forbes Africa 30 Under 30 list for 2019 and her work has been featured on landmark buildings such as the iconic Soweto Towers and a mural that she created for the NBA’s Utah Jazz team.
Karabo describes her style as contemporary Africa esthetic, where Urban and Traditional meet. Her trademark style is displayed through various canvases and mediums.
This exciting collaboration will be available from 7 November 2019.
